Grassroot Soccer is an international adolescent health organization that educates, inspires and mobilizes youth in developing communities to overcome their greatest health challenges and live healthy, productive lives. Grassroot Soccer uses the power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information, and health services they need to thrive, and empowers adolescents to make educated choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV & AIDS, sexual health, gender-based violence, and malaria. Their evidence-based programs, led by trained local mentors, incorporate soccer into dynamic lessons about health and wellness that engage young people and break down cultural barriers. With proven results and a constant focus on research and innovation, Grassroot Soccer has reached over 1.8 million young people in nearly 50 countries with adolescent-friendly health education.

Grassroot Soccer’s activities are divided into two areas: global activities and in-country activities. Globally, Grassroot Soccer focuses on curriculum development, measurement and evaluation, strategic development and financial management. In-country, their teams execute on the Grassroot Soccer and partner funded programs, managing all aspects required to fulfill their mission and satisfy the funders’ financial and programmatic needs. In addition, the global team provides technical assistance to implementing partners who deliver SKILLZ interventions. Grassroot Soccer’s global team identifies partners capable of sustaining a football-based adolescent health program, matches them with funders, provides in-country training and ongoing technical assistance and assists in the overall capacity building of these organizations.
